With proper care, precious jewelry should last for decades and bring you years of
pleasure. When jewelry is not cleaned it looses its beauty. Below are a few ways
to keep your precious jewelry safe and preserve its eternal beauty.
Remove all jewelry before taking a shower or cleaning. Soap can cause a film to
form on jewelry making it dull.
-
There are many commercial cleaners available to clean jewelry at home. You will
find, a soft chamois cloth an effective and inexpensive way to keep your jewelry
lustrous and shining.
-
Do not use toothpaste to clean jewelry.
-
Be careful of Chlorine. Chlorine, especially at high temperatures can permanently
damage and discolor your jewelry. Do not wear gold while using chlorine bleach or
while in a pool or hot tub.
-
You can remove tarnish with jewelry cleaner or by using soap and water. After brushing
simply rinse with lukewarm water and allow it to dry.
-
Always clean hooks with an alcohol swab before wearing any new earrings.
-
Apply your make-up, hair spray and perfume before your jewelry - the chemicals in them will damage the finish of the metal and the stones. In other words, put the jewelry on last.
